2016 in Review: What a Year it’s Been for iSpecimen!

December 21, 2016

2016-2017

While New Year’s celebrations might vary, all can agree that it’s a time to be grateful for the past year’s blessings and a chance to toast to hope and luck in the future. 2016 was an exciting year for the life science industry as the nation turned its focus to furthering research initiatives with important ramifications for healthcare. In line with this momentum, iSpecimen has never been busier, seeing corporate growth, expanding product offerings, and working with new supply partners. So in New Year’s tradition, we are proud to reflect on and share our most notable achievements in 2016. During 2016, we:

Kicked off the year with a welcome to Eric Langlois as Vice President of Sales & Business Development and launched a targeted sales campaign for 2016.

Launched our monthly Specimen Spotlight series in March to highlight the most interesting orders we have been able to fulfill. We have released 10 spotlights to date, with topics including the value of matched sets, sourcing tissue for in-vitro tumor simulation, and collecting samples for cancer immunotherapy research.

Expanded product offerings to include annotated biofluids, solid tissue, and cells collected as both remnant samples or specifically for research purposes.

Signed 20 new supply partners over the year, closing the year with access to more than 25 million remnant specimens, nearly 5 million patient encounters from whom specimens can be prospectively collected, and hundreds of thousands of biobanked samples. iSpecimen’s supply network now consists of a diverse array of clinical organizations– including hospitals, labs, clinics and practice groups, biobanks, blood centers, HIEs, tissue donation centers, and research organizations.

Attended more than 15 conferences, expanding our partner and customer base and increasing awareness. Attendance included presenting at the Dark Report’s Executive War College in April with supply partner PAML, which spurred an invite and presentation at the California Clinical Lab Association’s Annual Meeting in November.

Achieved 33 press placements across the year and more than a 10-fold increase in blog traffic.

Expanded sales team with several new hires towards the end of the year in preparation for anticipated 2017 demand.

Nearly doubled our overall workforce.

Began construction on an expanded office space to be ready in the New Year!

It was an excellent year and as we close it out, iSpecimen wishes all of our customers, partners, employees, and friends happy holidays. We cannot wait to see what 2017 will bring for our company, the industry at large, and the improvement of patient health and care.
