Financial Reporting and Compliance Manager

Position Overview
We are looking to add a sharp, detail-oriented accounting professional to our rapidly growing finance team in Lexington, MA. The Manager, Financial Reporting and Compliance, will own all aspects of the on-going SEC reporting, including ensuring their accuracy and integrity, as well as continuing to enhance and maintaining the highest quality of internal controls over financial reporting. The applicant must demonstrate the ability to drive processes with various stakeholders to ensure achievement of deadlines and objectives. Responsibilities of Financial Reporting and Compliance Manager

  • Provide support on the monthly, quarterly and annual closes including preparation of reconciliations for more complex or technically challenging balance sheet accounts
  • Ownership of financial reporting integrity, ensuring GAAP compliant statements are accurate and produced on a timely basis
  • Manage the external reporting process from preparation to filing of all SEC documents, including 10-K, 10-Q, 8-Ks and related XBRL requirements
  • Assist with the Company’s Proxy filing and other statutory filings
  • Proactively monitor technical accounting assessments of new transactions and/or accounting standards and manage the Company’s timely implementation of relevant pronouncements
  • Prepare technical accounting memos and disclosures for new transactions and accounting standards, including benchmarking of best practices
  • Maintain strong controls and processes in the global accounting operations; enhance, design, maintain and review internal controls and corporate policies and procedures for SOX compliance
  • Identify and implement efficiencies with various financial reporting processes and transaction flows and controls to support our continued global growth and scale
  • Support implementation of global accounting systems, including FP&A, HR in a SOX compliant manner to support control objectives
  • Manage the Company’s assessment of the effectiveness of internal controls and work with the team to manage external audits (quarterly/annually) to support the audit process
  • Build partnerships and relationships, internally across the organization and externally, that lead to the highest levels of collaboration and effectiveness
  • Act as the primary contact for the auditors during the annual audit and quarterly reviews
  • Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries
  • Ensure that all PBCs are provided on a timely basis to the auditors
  • Provide oversight of payroll and equity accounting, including share-based compensation
  • Other duties or special projects as requested

Required Qualifications of Financial Reporting and Compliance Manager

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA required
  • Minimum 5 + years’ experience with at least 3 years in public accounting
  • Biotech industry experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with Intacct and Equity Edge Online preferred
  • Strong knowledge of accounting rules and SOX compliance, including the developing, documenting, and maintaining processes, policies and controls in accordance with SOX requirements
  • Solid SEC/technical accounting along with a very-hands on approach to accounting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills that demonstrate understanding of GAAP and SEC regulations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Critical thinker who can foresee potential obstacles and propose alternative approaches
  • Experience building, collaborating and managing teams to achieved deadlines and objectives
  • Proficiency with financial software, data analytics and warehouses
  • Strong independent research ability and analytical skills
