Position Overview

iSpecimen, a rapidly-growing healthcare and life science technology company headquartered just outside of Boston, MA, is seeking a highly-motivated AWS Solution Architect.

Responsibilities

Applies knowledge and expertise in wireless and computer communications and network
systems architecture to design, select, develop, support and maintain AWS automation solutions and infrastructure instrumentation that improves iSpecimen’s ability to build, test, and release software faster and more reliably. Leads and mentors the organization in AWS Cloud Solutions and DevOps. Build and maintains tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations supporting highly available, high-performance, scalable systems. Leads infrastructure environment design and configuration. Collaborates with QA, product management, design, and other stakeholders to deliver complete solutions. Contributes to maintaining and improving deployment and scaling processes. Participates in creating and improving security policies and procedures that will ensure the protection of customer and corporate data. Troubleshoots issues that arise with our products, data, and environments and escalates to software engineering when necessary. Ensures the testability, performance, and reliability of product deliverables. Manages projects applying accepted project management principles and delivers a clear set of metrics to demonstrate value.

Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or closely related field and 3 years of Cloud Engineering experience. In lieu, will accept a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or closely related field and 5 years of progressively responsible Cloud Engineering experience.

Experience, which may have been gained concurrently, must include:

  • 3 years of experience:
    • Working with Cloud Solutions and DevOps programs, including building Compute, VPC Networking, Communication Systems, Storage, Network Security and Firewall; and
    • Building highly available and highly scalable Infrastructure Solutions.
  •  2 years of experience:
    • Performing automation of infrastructure deployments in Amazon Web Services (AWS) including selecting appropriate tools and services (e.g. CloudFormation);
    • Developing and building high performance compute clusters using Containers and Serverless functions for Big-Data Analysis and Data Science;
    • Building and implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions;
    • Performing security hardening and deploying security tools throughout the infrastructure fleet; and
    • Providing security, encryption and patch management across the Network, Servers, Websites and database Instances using automation tools.

Applicants for consideration will be able to demonstrate sound knowledge in the following:

  • Wireless and computer communications / network system infrastructure;
  • Project management principles;
  • Evolving trends and solutions in the Cloud Infrastructure space including High Performance Computing, Containerization and server-less approaches; and
  • Determining Security, Deployment and Data-Encryption strategy throughout the environments that include Network, servers, Websites and Databases.
